Travel to Cuba
Cuba is a beautiful island of Caribbean; its one of the most fascinating places. The city is lively with Cuban music, heavenly coffee, thirst-quenching excellent local beer and then there is their rum, ‘Vitamin R’. With Cuba’s unique and fascinating personality- it sure is an infectious and irresistible place not to miss.
I went for a 3 weeks trip to Cuba last year, and I had the most amazing experience ever. There is so much to discover in this culture-opulent country, and I want to talk through about the best Cuba attractions one shouldn’t miss out.
-
Havana
It is the capital city of Cuba. The city is vibrant with its inviting colourful buildings and narrow streets to discover. Car Tour is a small tour company that is recommendable for an unforgettable city tour experience.
-
Vinales
A small town located in Western Cuba and it is traditional Cuba sprawled with palm trees, land covered with tobacco field, and serving as a gateway to valleys of tall, steep limestone hills, famously known as magotes. Vinales is an attraction for nature seekers who want to indulge in outdoor hiking, rock climbing, or cycling. If you love cigars, nature, hiking, and culture, this is the best place to consider.
Not far from the mountains, you can find little dance clubs at the market, where you and your friends can enjoy the evening with local beverages and music.
-
Las Terrazas
It is the ecological village of Cuba and has picturesque natural surroundings that attract foreign tourists. It is ideal for hiking, birdwatching ducks and flamingos on the lakes. The other Cuban treasure you can find here in Las Terrazas is many vegetarian and vegan restaurants. Tourists can happily tuck in meat-free diets made with the local produce.

A little cosy place for tourist to enjoy on the beach. Activities like snorkelling, scuba diving in flooded caves. You can visit the local crocodile breeding centre in the area

The city attracts travellers from around the world with its beauty and you may call it as the Cuban Paris. Cienfuegos has graceful parks and the Provincial Museum to discover the city’s history.
-
Trinidad
Cuba’s old colonial town attracts tourists due to its well-preserved colonial-style mansions, brightly coloured buildings and cobblestone streets. Definitely not to miss those little art galleries, and ride the horse to the national park and visit the waterfalls.
-
Santa Clara
This is the modern city of Cuba and it is erupting with Cultural Revolution. During the evenings, the town square has a lively atmosphere where the streets become full with shoppers, travellers and local musicians.
-
Varadero
A town popular with beach resorts with strings of hotels and spas. The beach entertains water activities like snorkelling and you can visit many little islands by boats.
Things to know before you visit Cuba
- November to April is the best time to visit Cuba, as it will be cooler dry weather with lower temperature with no showers and hurricane.
- Take enough cash with you; it is difficult to find ATMs.
- Internet connection is an issue; consider that you are having ‘a digital detox’ experience. You may be able to find local wi-fi hotspots where you will be able to connect for an hour. But don’t hold your breath for a fast connection.
- An English to Spanish dictionary in order to communicate with the locals. Not all the Cubans can speak English.
- Beware of many deceivers in Havana; they will tell you about special prices, avoid such people at any cost.
- Hardly any supermarkets are available to buy fruits and vegetables. Local restaurants are the only places to eat.
- Casas are the best places to stay when you are visiting Cuba. Casas are local houses with shared rooms for tourists to rent at an affordable rate. You can get advice from the locals about the best eateries and attractions to visit.
Cuba should definitely be a place in your bucket list that needs visiting.
